In April 2022 a customer contacted us regarding the condition of their house. During a storm, a tree fell directly on their house, impacting the roof and siding, as seen in the picture below.
As you can see from the picture, the roof had considerable damage as a result of the storm. Many of the shingles were broken beyond repair and the roof was significantly deformed. The first thing that had to be done was to remove the tree trunk and limbs so they could see what they were working with and how much damage there was on the roof. Once that was done, the existing roof had to be removed and disposed of.
Other removals and replacements that took place during this time were:
- The gutter system
- The facia
- The rake
- The soffit trim and structure
- The gable siding
- The roof framing
- Ceiling joints
- Asphalt roofing shingles by Owens Corning in Estate Gray
- Norandex vinyl siding in the Seaport Designer color
- Replace damaged plywood wall sheathing
- Replace damaged subfloor, rim board and sill plate
- Hardwood floor to repair subfloor
- New Provia white vinyl replacement windows and casing
- Refinish existing wood flooring
- Interior painting and other finish work
In addition, the front wall had to be partially removed and checked for structural damage that may have occurred during tree impact. Necessary collar ties and metal connectors were then put in to connect the new roof and ceiling frame.
The owner also asked for a few other things to be done while working on his house. One of the things he requested was to winterize the heating system and have a potable water and drain system put in. After its installation, the team restarted the system, so the improved machine would be ready to go.
Following this, the roof itself needed to be installed. The owner decided to go with Gray Asphalt roofing shingles by Owens Corning in Estate Gray for their slope-style roof, and Norandex vinyl siding in the Seaport Design. They chose an Aluminum White trim for the house and also decided to put in a new exterior door and vinyl windows. As you can see in the picture below, the owner’s choice of shingle and siding colors went together nicely.
