To check for damage after a storm you’re going to watch to look in a few specific places where damage tends to happen. Of course, depending on the type of storm damage could affect your house differently, but overall, there are a few crucial points to check in on regardless of the type of storm.
1. Check Your Ceiling and Attic for Water Damage
This is crucial when you are beginning to check for damage after a storm. Take a look at your ceilings, look at the ceiling around your light fixtures and feel around it to make sure it’s not damp. If your ceiling is wet or damp at all, head up to the attic to get more a more thorough look of what’s going on. If there are water circles, discoloration, a musty smell, etc. you’ll want to give your local trusted roofing company a call. If you even the slightest doubt if your roof is still in good condition, don’t wait till it’s too late, get someone to check your attic and make sure everything is in proper condition.
2. Inspect The Area Around Your Home
You’ll want to take a look at the areas surrounding your home, bushes, fences, trees, patios, and furniture. If any of the shingles on your roof are damaged or missing. As you look around your perimeter check for any shingles that have come loose and fallen to the ground. If there are any shingles on the ground, you’ll want to have someone come out and take a look at your roof to check for damage after a storm.
3. Take a Look at Your Windows, Gutters, and Roofing Accessories
Damage to gutters and roof vent damage shows weather affects that otherwise would have been difficult to see. Check your damage after a storm done to your windows and window screens.
4. Inspect Your Roof For Visible Damage
You want to take note of any damage you see; you’re looking for missing, damaged, cracked or curled shingles. If you’re not sure, call in the professionals to give your roof an inspection.
